Replacing transmission

Is it possible to replace the transmission on a 1982 kz440 belt drive without taking the motor off the frame? I'm afraid Im gonna have to replace mine.

No. The engine must come out. I've read about, never tried, guys removing the bottom crankcase half w/o removing the cylinders and head, in order to service the transmission. That info is not specific to the 440 though.
