I am a Goose.....

Hi guys, I have dropped one of the rubber timing chain dampers into the engine when removing the head. I have dropped the oil pan but for the life of me I can't find it. I have a sneaky suspicion that it is in sitting on top of the crank under the cam chain cog. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get the bugger out? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, we all go through the same accidents, I had a similar problem, went to an auto shop and bought one of those (cheap) long spring with a push button on top, once pressed three/ four prongs at the bottom extend and grab the offending item. They are thin enough to go down that gap. Quack Quack

Four weeks ago same problem, don't move the cranc, solved with a strong lamp and a long pincet.

Those dampers have a steel base.  Just drop an extendible magnet down to pick it up.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Seriously! Never knew that. Off to the shed now to sort it out.
