question about shifting Z1B
05 Feb 2022 08:59 - 05 Feb 2022 09:01
After new Cam chain, ect and new gaskets i put the engine together and today i put it in the frame. (exhaust tomorrow) I can shift from free to the first gear by turning the rear wheel by hand but i can not go to the second gear by turning the rear wheel. I thought i read somewere on the forum that this is normal situation and you can only go from the first gear to the second gear on a running machine. I this correct?

The gearbox if equipped with a neutral finder which prevents going into 2nd and above until you are moving.
The mechanism consists of 3 small ball bearings which disenage via centrifugal force.
If you spin the rear wheel fast enough by hand you can usually get the other gears or you can start the engine and shift through the gears with the bike on the mainstand.
