Hi all, first time poster, long time reader. So here goes- I have an 81 kz1000 car, stock except for a h&h 4 into 1 and uni pods, after a recent rebuild the bike ran well, but I couldn't get it to idle right, I would have to turn the screw up, ride a bit, come to a stop then turn it down and repeat. After doing a leak test, the boots seamed to be leaking. I Replaced the boots, no more leaks but now it won't start without starter fluid. Trying to without it, it just cranks. I'm stuck because if it was a spark problem or not getting air or fuel, I don't think it would start at all. Any suggestions on where to start would be appreciated, thanks

One other possibility is that you didn't get the petcock hooked up properly and the carbs aren't getting fuel.  Also realize that you need to prime the carbs the first time after they are fully drained.

As Nessism says, make sure fuel is getting to the carbs. If so, then trace your enrichment circuit all the way through and make sure all the passages are clear and the valves are opening when the choke is pulled. Lastly, make sure your pilot circuit is clear.
