Hello,
January I purchased my first KZ and am slowly getting it roadworthy again. Shes a 1993 KZP. 12000 miles on the odo. I purchased from an old timer who bought it at auction in 2005 and quickly parked it in the back of his heated garage.
I promptly went to replace the 15yr old tires, chain, fork seals, carb boots, spark plugs and fluids... on the road again!
After my first ride I found three more issues to address before i can put it on the road. I had a burned out clutch, coutersprocket was pissing oil and finally, my shifter pedal jams.
So back into the shop and over the next few days I address these new issues.
for the shifting problem... I found that all springs in the mechanism are in good shape. It seemed like the "kick pawl spring #92083-018" was worn so that was replaced.
I buttoned up the bike hoping I had fixed all my issues and could finally put some miles on these new treads!
I was wrong and my shifter still sticks on the up (heel) shift. This bike has the rocker style heel-toe shifter. Has any member address this issue in the past?
No parts appear to be bent. Or broken. The pedal linkage appears to operate smoothly which makes me believe the issue is internal and behind the sprocket cover.
All help and guidance is appreciated. I am SO happy to join the KZ family. If any other KZP riders are here in Vancouver, BC. Let me know and let's go for a cruise!
