Kz650 valve shim diameter. was created by kzed
So I decided to go ahead and do a proper valve clearance check. They are all way too tight . So I’m trying to order shims but I’m not sure about the correct diameter. I haven’t taken out my camshafts yet until I get the shims so I can’t measure them myself. Are they 13 mm diameter, 9 mm, or the 7mm.
thank all of you for the Help

can you use smaller diameter shims? I wouldn’t think they would rattle around in there. But again I would prefer to order the correct diameter

one other thing. Do those shim kits just give you one of each size? I know my current shims are all 2.65 as I was able to still read the numbers on them. I would think I need more than one of the same size just in case.

They are 13mm and you must use the correct 13mm diameter shims.

Shim kits do have regulary 4 shims of each size but you can buy or share shims you need at your local bike shop.

Here are my Würth 13 mm and 7,5 mm shim kits.

Hey guys I can’t figure out how to do a proper quote on this forum. Every time I push the quote button and try to reply, it just makes my comments part of the quote I’m responding to.

Anyway, yeah I called a bunch of local shops. None of them had what I needed. Wilmington just isn’t a good place for I old Kawasakis, if I had a Harley I’d be fine... but I don’t want a Harley... is that weird or unamerican? lol

and why are shims so damn expensive!!!??? I ordered a kit. I hope it gets here soon.
