1978 KZ400 Right Side Problem was created by fubsy
Hey All...
my kz tested at 185 compression both sides w throttle open as per service manual. With just starter no throttle, left 135, right 69.
I have spark. Rt plug has fuel remnant (moist) on lead after running and is cold while Lt side is dry and hot. Lt exhaust warm, Rt cold.
I checked valve clearances. Pretty new to moto maintenance and repair but enjoying learning.
Thanks for any expertise you can offer!

Compression seems fine. You have to keep the throttle open all of the way when you test.
It seems like your right side cylinder isn't firing as it's cold.
Are your spark plugs new?
Check the condition of the right side spark plug wire. Double-check that the spark isn't escaping via a cracked wire.

Grab an inline spark checker.
This will tell you if you are getting spark on that right side cable.
Harbor freight has them for $5, but you may not even live on this continent.

There could be many reasons why that cylinder is not firing.
We'll try to help you figure it out.

Sounds like perhaps your carb sync is off. If, with the throttle closed, the left butterfly is open more than the right it allows more air in and you get a higher compression reading.  You also get that cylinder to run better. The other side is closed off so lower readings and poor burn because it's not getting air.
If the bike can run, do a carb sync on it. If it's not running, pull the carbs and bench synch them.
