KZ750 Ltd (KZ650?) Exhaust Heat Shields

I'm slowly gathering parts for an original exhaust system for my 750H. The left hand heat shield is part number 14025-1518 (according to CMS and Partzilla). This part seems to be non-existant, but there are quite a few NOS heat shields with part no. 14025-1212 out there. This part number isn't used in any bikes according to CMS. It looks the same, but there are so many different KZ heat shields out there that look the same but are different lengths or have slightly different flares.

Anybody know if this part is a direct replacement?

I couldn't find that part number either. Three sellers on EB are listing that muffler cover (NOS) with the same part number, so they must have the same information. They may have a more complete database than what's available on-line nowadays.

14025-1212 may be for the muffler cover only (without the clamp). My guess is that part number was originally for the 1980 KZ750-H1, then in 1981 it was changed. The new -1518 number may supersede the -1212. just a guess.

Thanks Martin, I'll get in touch with one of the ebay sellers and see what they say. Will send a note to my parts guy after Christmas as well.

After looking at the drawings, part numbers & EB pics more closely, it looks like the cover & clamp are sold as a unit for the 1980 750H, so I was mistaken about that. should have checked more carefully. doh. However, the part number still may have changed for whatever reason. assuming their x-ref is correct. ???

ps: when I get the chance, I'm going to try comparing the EB pics to a nos muffler cover I have.

Ordered one of the covers on german ebay. Should be here in a few days - I'll compare it to the beaten up original I already have.

Just to follow up on this, part no. 14025-1212 arrived today and it is exactly the same as the original (which I am assuming is part no. 14025-1518).
