05 KZ1000P Piston Rings Question 13008-5035 vs 13008-5056 was created by ken19
Z1 Enterprises has some rings for about $30 dollars a set. They say they fit all J models. Made in Japan. Good Quality. They give equivalent Kawasaki P/N of 13008-5035. Partzilla states that number fits 81-86 models.
When I researched it the OEM says to use 13008-5056. Z1 says they probably superseded the number. Now I happen to believe Z1
I'm wondering if this might have to do with the "Smokey J" issue.
Expert opinions appreciated..... even non experts....

In looking on Partzilla it seems that PN 13008-5035 was superseded by PN 13008-5056. Both the early and late J engines used the same PN 13001-1119 piston so using the later rings in an early engine should be okay as near as I can tell.

So their both basically the same part? The 5035 can be used on early or late models. Kind of confusing.

Purchased one set of rings (13008-5056) and 3 sets (13008-5035). Completely identical (to the eye) and all fit the same.
The only difference I saw besides the price was the packaging. The 5056 ($54) was a Kawasaki Package while the 5035 ($30) was NPC. Both made in Japan.
I suspect Kawasaki purchased them from NPC repackaged with the Kawasaki brand. JMO....
