Bike was running fine. Got caught in the rain and the engine started to fart and pop. Something started to happen all of a sudden . I’m thinking electrical? Plugs and wires are new, the bike sat for 20 years and a bike mechanic got it all squared away and road ready. I’ve put about 500 miles on it since and rode in the rain once before without a problem. What should I look for?

Take off gas tank and dry the electrics - coils, connections, plug wires, plugs etc.
Hair drier will work.
Or spray with WD 40 (WD = water displacement)
With a 78 you probably have points. Check if wet.
If you ride in the rain look for an ignition protector spray which will coat the electrics.

That’s what I did. Ends up being the #3 plug and a bad coil. # 1 isn’t great either but not dead. Points are original and bad. Ordered new coils, points and condenser. I’m hopeful that my problems will be going away!! I’ll let you know when I’m up and running. Thank you

No pods, stock air box. I think it was the coil and points. Thank you
