So I overtightend the cam chain tensioner so much that I snapped the threads off of the cap.

Does anyone know where I can get another one?

What are the pros and cons of a manual chain tensioner?

For normal street driving, the stock tensioner is the best thing going.

Unfortunately, stock ones are not available as far as I can tell.

I've got a spare. Missing the wedge spring but you can swap in yours. PM me if you want it.

Ebay is showing me 6 results. Two of them are brand new old stock bodies. The other are for complete used tensioners.
part number 12049-1016

If all you need is the cap, ebay is showing me 4 results for those, and at least one is brand new.
part number 92015-1177

Used cap is fine. Not a wearing part. On a J engine torque is 18 ft/lbs.

Sounds like a great way to strip the threads.

The kz550 FSM also says 18.0 ft lbs for the tensioner cap. I've always gone by feel, prob less than 18. It never seems to come loose, and since it always has motor oil, it never seems to get stuck. I'm surprised to hear it was damaged.
