Cam chain tensioner problem was created by Gdailey2112
After removing my factory cam chain tentioner, I'd noticed that the pushrod spring had been partially pushed into the pushrod hole with the pushrod. Needless to say, the tentioner wasn't functioning properly, ..if at all. However, what can I do to fix this problem so that it doesn't happen again? Thanks in advance!

A 1982 GPZ1100 would have the "automatic" chain tensioner with the spring loaded opposing wedges.

Look for worn parts and replace, appears most of the crucial parts are available

It's not available as a whole unit, but all the parts are. So you can order everything and put together a complete new OEM tensioner.

It's the automatic style with the two wedges. I've flipped the spring around and all is good now. The one end of the spring is kind of buggered up, which allowed it to partially go into the housing with the shaft. The shaft was locked into housing, it was one hell of an ordeal. Scary stuff!!
Thanks guys!!!
