Haynes vs Clymer vs Kawasaki genuine workshop manuals

From my experience with cars the Haynes manuals are watered down maintenance manual, are the Clymer and Kawasaki genuine much more detailed?

The aftermarket manuals are certainly better than no manual, but they sometimes lack the model specific and running changes information included in the factory manual.

Warren, I am shocked by that blatant display of crudeness! I thought all English folks were much more refined with a better grasp of the Queens English. However, I have all three of the mentioned manuals. The FSM is the go to book with Clymer being the second. The Haynes manual is in fact poopie-paper. The pictures in the one I have are next to worthless and looks like someone took them with a Brownie Box Camera without a flash.

It's not just that the factory manuals are better. The Kawasaki service manuals from the 70s and 80s are the best factory manuals I've ever seen for any vehicle I've owned. Most manuals have diagrams, torque specs, some assembly steps, and some troubleshooting guides. But the KZ manuals have a detailed theory of operation section that provides a level of detail you never find in modern manuals.

They are really good, and worth every penny.

Clymers and Haynes manuals are great to keep next to your fireplace to use for kindling. Beyond that they offer minimal value.

Yes, sorry, I meant to say arse. For the most part we are, however, when it comes to Haynes manuals they bring out the worst in everyone regardless of nationality. Now I'm off for afternoon tea with cucumber sandwiches (no crusts) and fondant fancies.

The Kawasaki service manual is my bible. Sometimes they don't show enough detail but if I'm pondering how things go together I can always go to the parts fiches. The Clymer manual is useful as a second source. I don't have Haynes so can't speak to it. I also have a complete set of Kawasaki maintenance training manuals for a deeper understanding of how things work. They are much the same as the videos.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.
