Engine Swapping KZ750H was created by GoatChaw2020
Would a KZ750M 2 cylinder motor from 1982 fit in my 1980 KZ750H frame? I'm rebuilding the current motor (a KZ750E engine) but it's going to be a long process sourcing the parts and I have access to a twin of a similar year. How do I go about finding engine dimensions for a proper engine swap? I have access to a couple other engines as well, but I've never done an engine swap before and am looking for advice on my first attempt

No. It will take some work to make it fit, if it can be done at all & I think the 750 Twin engine is taller than the 4-cyl.

Thanks for the info, do you know anything about more modern engines that could be a direct swap or swap-able with some new mount fabrication? I'm looking to ride this guy, the original engine rebuild is down to finding new retaining rings for the secondary shaft (bought on Partzilla) but I'm anticipating running into more problems in the assembly. Also had to have the cylinders machined out to 800cc's to fit new pistons & rings.

I'm wondering if ebay is a viable option for finding a decent drop-in engine while I'm going through the process of the rebuild. This is my entry into the world of motorcycle mechanics, so I'm not worried about what could go wrong so much as what I can learn. I'm in it for the education more than the performance of the machine at the moment. Please let me know how I'm being an absolute fool.

Below is a picture of a KZ1000 engine bumped ALL the way up to 1400cc and installed in a KZ650 frame. All it took to do it was time and a wheelbarrow full of 100 dollar bills. So, yes, nearly any engine can be put in your frame, but at what cost and how long will it take vs getting your original engine up to snuff? Ed

I did look at a few off a google search, the GP7 looks like a pretty accurate fit, There also seems to be a pretty accurate fitment with a GSXR750 engine.

That looks beefy as all hell but I dont doubt that frame work was a bear. I'm not trying to boost my power past the limits of the frame, just trying to find an accurate fit on a budget where I can learn some casual engineering versus the bottom-top end rebuild I'm doing to the original (replacement) engine.
