Newbie here. Sorry if this is a repeat question. Are NGK BPR7ES plugs ok to use in a 1076 Kawasaki KZ 400? What would an optimal plug be? Thanks for the help!

B7es or preferably denso w22es. Bpr7es have an extended electrode which will have no benefits for your bike.

Why not simply try using the spark plugs that the manufacturer (Kawasaki) said should be used? I suspect the folks at Kawasaki knew a thing or two about Kawasaki bikes. Ed

That's a page from the original manual ed. I think they revised it to b7es and w22es for the whole range after the first editions.

You are correct! Thanks!
Looking at www.kz400.com/TechnicaldataFrameset.html it appears that Kawasaki changed the recommendation to NGK B7ES or ND W22ES-U starting in 1978. Kawasaki made a similar change to the KZ650 spark plug recommendation after the first edition of the KZ650 manual. It makes me wonder if the earliest recommendations were based on Kawasaki test riders' track experience vs regular street use. Ed
