400ltd back from the dead was created by petestain
New to the forum. I'm helping my neighbor get his '79 KZ400LTD back from the dead. It has been dead for over a year. He said his lights got really bright just before everything died on him and he couldn't get it started again. I found it had no spark and replaced the coil, plugs, plug caps, points, and condenser. I gapped the points and set the timing per the clymer manual. I also replaced the regulator/rectifier because I suspect that caused the bright lights thing and blew his ignition circuit.
Now it has good spark but it still won't start. I pulled the carbs and cleaned them and blew them out. They're back on and still no luck starting. Checked compression and found both cylinders at ~150. With full choke I get a little bit of rumble like it wants to start but never get it to catch.
At this point I'm stuck and thinking about revisiting the carbs. Any ideas on what I might be missing?

Set your petcock on prime.
If that doesn't work you didn't clean your carbs well enough.
