Can you drop your oil pan?

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Other than dropping the oil pan I don't know of another way. Got to get that stuff out for sure.

Search for home made engine stands........ I rigged up a auto engine stand with a piece of angle iron and bolted up the back of the motor to it. With the pan off you can spin it 4 or 5 times each way and spray the hell outta the insides with kerosene, WD40 and brake cleaner worked very good after on mine. Might seen like a lot of trouble but after you see how nasty the oil pan is and how nice you got it thinking you'll be glad. I Got mine super clean this way and then gave it a good coat of reg bike oil.

Yep, I kinda knew I'd have to drop the pan. Just didn't know what'd be best to use. Much thanks!

There is no easy way to do this job and getting the old gasket off can be a royal pain in the butt. The good news is that once finished you will be quite pleased you did this job. It is amazing how much crap collects in the oil pan and pump filter.

Remains of a kim towel on the oil strainer, accidently left in the engine during a rebuild.
