undefined Hello, I hope everyone is staying safe...
I have a 1992 kz1000p with a big hole in the lower end. So I found a good running 1980 kz 1000, what I need to know is will the 1980 motor fit right in the 92 police bike???
Amy and all help. Thanks ahead.

Not easily, the motor mounts are different,. There are basically three versions of the 1000. The KZ version that is 1015cc and related to the earlier 900s. The MKII, which is an improved KZ. The J engine which is 998cc, and was used in civilian bikes from 1981 onward, and in all of the P series police bikes, 1982-2005. You need a J engine.

If both engines are the non kickstart equipped type engines then the case mounts will physically be the same and the engine will swap.
