So I have had the AEM wideband on the shelf for about 4 years and never got around to installing it. Well since I got some time on my hands now like most people I decided this is the weekend.

I experimented with this fresh NOS MAC header I had. Descent fit, I tried a few locations on the header.

The one right after the head on the sharp bend had a nicer fit up than the one on the flat portion.

Here is where I picked on my bike.
According to AEM these bungs are "severe conditions" ones that due to the fins allow them to be mounted "right off the exhaust valve".

Pretty much just ran a straight edge off the frame. What am I missing here? I should still be able to get the header on and off? The bungs do not stop the collar falling off as bad as the frame does. I have never had the header off since installing it, I remember it was a pain the a$$!

Well...give me some feedback before I am past the point of no return!

Most people put it at the merger. The instructions say at least 18: from the skirt of the piston. AEM recommends these bungs if you want to put it right in the line of fire. I want to swap the sensor around and tune each cylinder. I think the standard bungs will not dissipate heat fast enough and smoke the sensor.

I went about 20" from the exhaust port exit, but I'm running a parallel twin so mounting was easier.
Your mounts can double as EGT ports as well.

Thanks F64, did you find the wideband worked well as a tuning aid? Was the gauge responsive and easy to read?

It's a pretty good way to fine tune.
I run my KZ on the rich side at WOT(.70 Lambda). Just to keep the engine cooler. I lose some power and a bit of gas mileage but I don't feel bad running it harder.
I ended up drilling my pilot jet to .40 mm and shimming my needle 1mm with washers.
numbers:
idle .83 lambda
1/8 throttle .90
1/4 .80
1/2 .80
3/4 .80
WOT .70

You may want a gopro to watch the gauge, the tach, and your throttle. Then you can review it safely.
It's hard to watch it and the road at the same time.
I marked my throttle in 4 divisions to see what circuit I was measuring.

Report back on how the AEM does. I'm curious as my Innovative LM2 was buggy.
