2 piece head gasket

Have a heavily modified 80KZ1000. Z1 bottom, 77/78 jugs and head, 2X Andrews Cams, 1075 kit installed some time during its life.

Existing 2 piece head gasket burned thru between 1&2. The gaskets were smaller opening at 71mm measured over the cylinder.
Want to stay with 2 piece gasket and o-ring and looking into a possible swap with a 81-83 1100 2 piece if the openings are 42mm over the cylinder. Without ordering each, 77 to 80 1000 and 81 to 83 100, and measuring I do not know if these will exchange.

Photos of each suggest the gaskets to be very similar 1000 vs 1100 with the bolt pattern, construction. Opening appears larger on the 1100.

11004-1039, 1105, and 1263 are Kawi part numbers for the 1100 gaskets, 11004-076, 1258 for the 1000.

Has anyone successfully done this? Can the 1100 gaskets be swapped into a 1075 build and fit properly?

when I do these builds I use 1 pc MLS head gaskets & fill grove with sealer . also you need to make sure surfaces are flat & smooth for mls head gaskets along with HD studs.

I switched to one piece head gaskets years ago and will never go back. I found a O ring from 87 in the dirt at my old dead shop. It still has silicon on it and is still as soft and pliant as it was new. The ones you buy now get hard in a year and crack. Now I don't have oil gushing all over the bike and on my foot.

Steve what's your preferred brand for Head Gasket, Base Gasket and Valve Seals?
I'm going to attempt to replace the leaking ones on my 83 kz1100 LTD.
Thanks

OEM or Cometic. Going to order APE seals this time. Disappointed in the Viton seals.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configuration

The KZ1100 J-head gaskets have large holes which accommodate o-ring oil passage seals at the four outer cylinder studs.
However, the ZN and ZX engines did away with those o-rings, and use the Kawasaki head gasket per ebay listing below:

Daveo: What did you use on your bike? I have to do mine as the paper base gasket is spraying oil out of the corners where the screwdriver slots are. I'll never use a paper or fiber gasket again. I want to do this so I'll never have to do it again. I'm thinking copper gaskets top and bottom. What's the deal with the ZX head gaskets? Are those safe to use for a KZ motor ? Will the oil drain back down thru the stud cavities? Thank you.

Cometic:

Gasket edges were painstakingly filed and sanded to fit snugly around the center o-ring and adjacent APE studs.

:)

Can't address other issues from past experience, except to suggest installing APE HD cylinder studs.

The new 1075 kit comes with one piece head gasket and base gasket. Copper will weep even if sealer is used. The ones from Z1e seem rather thin but I won't know for sure until I get them.
