hello and Help with parts was created by sumowilkie
First off just like to say hi to all, im a new KZ owner as of yesterday, picking up a non runner brat style/cafe racer KZ550
History of bike is its a Ventus made bike from poland called a scoundrel, was imported to uk 5 years ago.
Its been hit by a car whilst stationary and has cracked the side pulsing cover.
Iv looked on ebay and theres so many different versions, but non look like mine.
Can anyone help identify what the engine is, offer any advise where i might enquire for parts? is there a specialist shop somewhere?
The engine number is KZ550 AG006647
Frame says kz550B Kz550g-002939
Many thanks in advance for any info.

Is this the one you need. It’s not a for sale item but it gets you the part number to aid your search

Thank you, it looks like it. can you show a picture of underside please just to be sure?
Is there a website that tells me the history and what changed on the KZ550's.
Whats the difference on LTD bike. Im looking to buy a frame as mines bent, just wondering if they stayed the same, engine mounts etc
Iv also noticed theres diferent letters after Kz550 (B,H,G etc.) and its kind of a mind field figuring whats changed if any.
Many thanks mikaw

From the back cover of a KZ400/500/550 Kawasaki service manual on EB >> models listed that may be similar to yours are:
1979-82 Z500-B1/B2/B3B4. 81-82 Z550-B2/B3. 83 Z550-G4. (EB search = KZ550 manual). item #133292901904.
Most websites only list diagrams & info for the USA models. For non-USA, try CMSNL.com & motorcyclespecs.co.za.
Partzilla has diagrams w a cross-reference. Find a suitable motorcycle, choose a diagram, then click a part for the x-ref.
First link below is the engine covers diagram for a 1980 KZ550-A1.
The A in this case means it's the standard model (not Ltd or GPz or shaft). A 550C is an Ltd w chain drive (e.g., KZ550-C3).
www.partzilla.com/catalog/kawasaki/motor...e-covers-80-81-a1-a2
Got to this link by clicking part number in above link. It shows the models that use the exact same engine cover (pulsing coil cover).
A later cover may look different or have a different part number, but might still fit if it uses the same gasket.
www.partzilla.com/product/kawasaki/11012...6e9bd4e69a884023eb53
Got to this link by clicking gasket part number. Shows models that use the same engine cover gasket, so an engine cover from any of those models should fit. but you need to be aware that some engine covers may not be as deep.

loudhvx has an FSM on his motorcycle stuff page. see links in his signature.
The manual has photos of the KZ550B models (probably known as the Z550B for most non-USA markets & probably almost identical).
I'm not familiar w the 550B, but it appears to be a standard model.

Just to help your search - that cover (11012-1098) was also used in the 1980 Z750 (E and H and maybe some others). I've seen a few around on eBay but they seem a bit harder to come by. I have a similar cover that will fit (11012-1266) lying around over here in Germany - let me know if you can't find anything.

Almost any Kz400-four, 500, 550, 650, 700, 750-four ignition cover will work as long as it was not a points-bike. The electronic ignition cover had a tiny bit more clearance needed for the electronic rotor unit. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the early 650 points covers were the best looking with all capital letters, but they don't fit exactly right. They need a spacer, or maybe just two stacked gaskets.
