I hope it's a simple 'just oil the chain' but I fear it's not. It's not on the road yet, but I've run it around our neighborhood. First gear, up hill, get on the gas and it stutters/skips -not the engine, but it's something between the trans/gears/clutch/chain. It's not easily repeatable, and I've only experienced it in 1st and 2nd - but I've only gotten on the gas in 1st or 2nd, and only uphill. Again, I haven't had it over 25 mph, so not a full test run yet. Any ideas?

Your situation could be a herd of problems, but the first one that comes to my mind, if you know it's NOT engine related is the chain and/or sprockets. Have you adjusted the chain and looked at the condition of the sprockets yet? If they are in good condition then I would look towards the clutch, but there are many things this "could" be.
