Cam timing/gas blowing out of the intake

I am having trouble with my ‘79 Kz650B. I have been working on it for a while trying to get it to run smoothly. Now it wont start at all. Motor turns over. Checked for sparks(good), I checked the all valve clearance(good), points are good, checked the float level. Cleaned the carbs. Looks like its blowing fuel out of the intake side. Im trying to think whats wrong with it. Maybe its the cam shalf position. ???? Help

If you think the cam timing is off then why not check it? Free factory manual download available in the Articles tab here.

Definitely take a look at the factory service manual. It has several diagnostic sections.

Has it ever run well while you have owned it. Or was it running rough when you bought it?

Will definitely check the cam timing. Just wanted to know if its anything else i need to look at that i might have missed. The bike ran fine when i bought it. First bike i ever owned. Project bike for me to learn on.
It started bogging around summer last year. Cleaned the carbs after that it ran fine again. Then now its not starting. Just shooting fuel out the intake side. It has foam filters.
I also changed the condenser due to one were not working.
Thanks for your help guys.

Is it one carb or all of them? Could be a float..

If it was running ok before and you have not had the motor apart it won't be cam timing.
You should check valve clearances as they may have closed up holding the valves off the seats.
Other than that the carbs and flooding are the main suspect.

Ok update. Bike started right away after checking cam timing. Now on carb 1 air filter side is blowing a lot of gas on idle and when i pull the throttle mire gas comes out. Obviously since throttle gives gas. I Set the fuel/air screw to 1.5 turns from seated position. Running 80% from being rideable. but just the gas blowing out. Could it be valve clearances on cam 1 or float need to be adjusted to plus side? You guys have more experience than me when diagnosing a motorcycle. Thank you

Yes! Flooding or inlet valve not shutting fully.

Thought you stated in the first post that the valve clearances are all good? Did you check them?

Spitting/back firing out gas is a sign of a wrong cam or ignition Timing or could be a no valve clearence fault.
