Clutch push rod was created by Luke Garrard
Hi,

I have an 82 Kawasaki GT 750 Shaft drive.
I would like to adjust the clutch and push rod tension.
My problem is, I do not know how to access this or see it.
Can anyone help with with where it is located and how to get to it.

There is not really any way to change the tension. If the clutch pull is harder than it is supposed to be , the problem may be a dry, dirty cable, or it could be a crapped up release mechanism. A Motion Pro setup can flush the crud out of the cable and leave it well lubbed. The release mechanis can be taken apart and cleaned.
Other possibilities are a frayed cable, a clutch lever pivot that is rusty or gummed up.

No offense intended, but if you're going to work on the bike you REALLY NEED a Kawasaki Service Manual. They are available on eBay, and I can assure you that no one has ever regretted buying one. They cover everything one needs to know about the bike from normal maintenance through full rebuild. Be sure to get one that covers your bike's exact year and model as there are differences. Ed

Howdy. cmsnl.com is the only place I know of that has diagrams for the GT750 >> there are several of them listed under Z750, but the earliest GT750 I saw was the 84 Z750P3. I don't know if the 84 is the same as the 82. I may have overlooked yours. The GT750 wasn't sold in the USA, so most places don't have parts diagrams for those models.

From the diagrams at partzilla the 82 750-N1 Spectre, 83 750-F1 Ltd Shaft & 84 ZN700 appear to have the same clutch release mechanism as the 84 P3 mentioned above, so your stuff may be the same >> you can probably use the KZ750 Shaft manual. If your clutch is problematic, one possible fix is to replace the clutch cable. Most KZs have a different clutch release.

Manual. search eebbaayy for KZ750 Shaft manual. There should be a KZ750-P1 listed on the model application chart on the back cover. assuming yours is the P1. guessing.

Hello, probs never going to see this post. It may be helpful to anyone else that has the 1982 shaft drive GT750.
Unlike many other KZ , the shaft drive on 82 plate does not have easy access to the adjustment screw. The screw that adjusts how far the push rod moves. On most or nearly all KZs there is two screw to remove and the screw inside adjusts the Push Rod.
All you can do is remove the casing and clean and grease the worm mech from here.
Hope thats clear.
