Does anybody know how much power Muzzy was getting from the 750 back then? I know Honda was making bigger power in the beginning of the 83 season but Rob and Kawasaki matched and got a little more than them; which, blows me away because Honda was running a liquid cooled V4 4 valves per cylinder motor.

What was the magic he did to it? I'm guessing bored to 810cc and big cams and serious porting and polish.

Guess they were wiping out 110-115 hp, I managed to get 100 out of my Gpz750R1 1982 race bike with Jim Wells 810 cc pistons, ported head and timed original cams and original BS32 carbs.
Serious fun whipping the GS1100 with a 750 back in the days.

I would have thought about 130 with the speeds they were doing.

This neat article explains his bike in detail.
I have the article downloaded at home, but it’s easier to just paste the link instead.

Can't imagine that they allowed 810cc in the 750 class. I could be wrong of course but it would be surprising. Regarding the 8V KZ vs the 16V Honda, it was not all about peak power the, Honda had a lot more midrange. Muzzy was a master no doubt, but the deck was stacked against him.

The Muzzy GPz750's were a true 750 per AMA rules.

That 2 valve motor was tuned to its limits!!!! They changed valve springs before each race!!!

There was rumors back then that they put a fresh motor in for Sunday's race.

It was Mr. Muzzy that made those motors run like they did!!!!! Having Rainey in the saddle was a huge help too!!!

Those two fleeced the Might of honda with a machine that should not even been able to run with those hondas!!!!
