If you set the Timing for #1/4 (F or TDC) the Timing for #2/3 are exact 180 degree off as it should.

There might be a T mark for TDC on 2 and 3. It's usually there for valve lash measuring etc.

Just get a sharpie marker or an awl and scratch marks into the advancer. Make them the same distance from 2-3 T as the other ones are from 1-4 T (to F and double lines), and in the same direction.

Like Scirocco said, they should end up exactly 180 degrees from the 1-4 marks.

The timing on a stock J-motor is not adjustable. You are pretty much stuck with what it is, and it should be correct if the cam-sprocket marks line up with the head surface when installing the cams. That is, unless the three mounting holes in the pickup coil plate have been slotted.

That is one reason I changed the stock ignition out for a Dynatek 2000, which has performed flawlessly and requires no maintenance.

Yes Martin but the T on #2/3 position are missing the #2/3 typo on the advancer body, very funny.
