82 1100 spectre 7,800 miles engine craps out in topp three gears

my 1100 runs great 1st and 2nd gear by 5th gear has no power hit the throttle you can hear it missing I know I don't ride it enough ive had people tell just put some miles on it. It might come out of it.

Is the bike stock or modified? And have you been through the factory Kawasaki manual for your bike and made sure all the required maintenance tasks are up to date?

If it has been sitting unridden for long periods of time, there is a good chance that the carbs are gummed up. No matter, the routine maintenance is always the place to start. Doing all the maintenance will eliminate possible causes and make diagnosis less of a shot in the dark.

If it is winding out in all 3 lower gears, it may be a problem with the fuel filter / screen being plugged, or a plugged tank vent. The gas cap vent is probably the easiest of all to check, since it's right on top. Both will limit / hinder fuel flow into the carbs.
