Z1 Trans cover seals was created by Move0ver
So my clutch push rod started leaking on saturday... leaking a lot so I couldn't ignore it.
One oil spill later:
And the cover after a light cleaning:
Here's the bad seal:
So the question is, should I replace the countershaft and shifter seals as well? The existing ones are still serviceable and didnt leak at all.

Unless you've already replaced them recently I would you're already into it.

Yep, i cleaned the cover, scraped off the old gasket material and I'll head over to the machine shop tomorrow morning to use their press.
A few years ago I was able to grab one of the last Arusu oil seal kits they had.... good to know I finally get to use it:
and because what's a good thread without pictures:

The three seals on the left are for the shift shaft. Two in the sprocket cover and one in the tranny cover.

A press is way overkill for those seals, they'll tap right in with sockets and small hammer.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

The Z1 and Z1A used a sprocket with both sides flat. The Z1B had a shoulder on the inside to move the sprocket out a bit to account for the wider O-ring chain. If you put a Z1/Z1A sprocket on a Z1B without a spacer the chain will rub the ends of the screws and put a groove in front part of your transmission cover. The Z1B also has a spacer behind the rear sprocket to give room for O-ring chain.
Edited to add that I looked at your photo and don't see the usual rub marks.

That's interesting, I never knew that.
I'll say, the cover does have the "normal" grooves on the lower "guard" due to a having a poorly tightened chain at some point in its life.
