thank god I found you guys.. Happy Thanksgiving ..
So I bought a 1983 Kz750 twin ltd belt drive for $300 in pretty good shape typical "hasnt ran in ten years" .. What I thought was just a stuck piston ended up being a seized lower end...
So I got back on the marketplace and found a basketcase of a 1987 Kz750 twin with a good motor but frame is all chopped up and the wiring is a mess... but its chain drive (woohoo) its got the spoked wheels (woohoo) and a set of gold mags with disc brakes and caliper... all for $200 with no title..
so I started the swap last night and quickly found out the belt drive swing arm is almost an inch wider then the chain drive swing arm.. you cant just swap swing arms because the shocks on the LTD are actually sitting wider on the frame. So i think im going to just keep the wider swing arm and try and make a spacer for the axle bolt..
well that was the first hurtle .. looking at the motors all the mounting locations are the same.. so that doesnt seem to be a problem but the wiring is a little different. the plugs arent the same..
would it be easier to swap wiring harnesses then try and make the 83 harness work on the 87?
i tried finding wiring diagrams for both with no luck, also tried searching the forums for other people that may have ran into a similar situation .
thanks guys
also will be parting out a lot of this stuff when im finished

If you open up the main menu here, and click on Articles, you will see a link to al list of service manuals. You can open or download the factory service manual for the 750 twin. It will have wiring diagrams near the end. I bet the only difference is in the ignition circuit, as the later ones had electronic rather than points. You may want to make that conversion as long as you have all the parts already.

[strike]its a 1987 Kz750 belt drive twin cylinder.. I verified the title to the vin and the title says its a 1987, I think it wasn't imported into America from what ive read online..[/strike]
here is an album of the pics from the for sale add.. imgur.com/a/1Hcgzk9 1987kz750
edit; hold on hold on... my mistake.. the one I have the Title for and the pictures I posted is an 1983.....KZ750 twin belt drive, ltd, drum brakes in the rear.
the donor bike with no title said it was a 1987.... but with no paperwork I cant believe it.. imgur.com/a/6wJbIFv
the vin JKAKZDM11CA000381 i looked it up seems to be a 1982... so these things changed this much from 1982-1983?

The 82 is a KZ750-M1 CSR. Most CSR models had wire spoked wheels, but otherwise had Ltd-type styling w lots of chrome & a fat rear tire. Other than the type of wheels, the 750 belt is very similar to the CSR. same seat. same fenders. and probably a bunch of other stuff. The CSR in the pic has been chopped & modified.

The back cover of the service manual should have enough vin info to confirm what you have.
