Hey there! 81 kz550C (LTD) here, got all my parts back from machine shop and during assembly I noticed only one side of the block-to-cylinder area had an oil restrictor nozzle, the other side an open hole. (see photos). The parts diagram I have shows 2 oil nozzles, one on each side. The only thing that stopped me from immediately ordering another oil nozzle and o-ring is that the "complete engine gasket set" I got only comes with a single lower oil nozzle-sized o-ring!

My 2 hypothesis are:
  • 1. Either I, my machinist, or someone else before I owned the bike, lost an oil nozzle somewhere in the dissassembly or machining process, AND the gasket kit I received is incomplete for some reason.
  • 2. There was never an oil nozzle there, because this engine is for some reason different, AND the parts diagram I have is slightly non-model specific or something and is a bit off (it may have already been in another instance)

I did search and did see some engine disassembly threads but nothing this specific. Any comments are appreciated! thank's Yooodle doodle y'all yodlers

Is there any text or pics in the Kawasaki Service Manual (see link below) that might help answer the question? Ed

Hey! I have a paper factory service manual, I do not recall seeing any specifics about these nozzles but i will double check tomorrow when I get to the book and if not i'll see if the online one you linked to is any different. ty for the reply :)

ALSO, not sure why, but it's not letting me edit the post to fix the image links. It says I am not allowed to edit this post. What's that about?

There should be two nozzles and two o- rings ( one each side) they also locate the cylinder block to the crank case to prevent any movement.
