Engine Removal Left or Right ? was created by kzdcw
About ready to remove my engine from my 77' KZ1000A for rebuild. Is it easier to remove the engine from the right side of the frame or the left side ? Manual says right but doesn't look like it would make a difference ?
Also, Is it easier to remove the engine with the carbs. on or off ?
Just trying to get a few pointers from the Forum before I start.

From the right.Dont know if itll come out the left. Maybe. Carbs off. The more you take off ,the easier it is to get out.

On the right side the lower center mounting bracket is removable,on the left side the lower center mounting bracket is welded to the frame, #10.
So it´s easier to remove the engine to the right side without the carbs.
One member here made special engine hook to get an easy out of the frame and some people flip the complete bike to the right side on an old mattress or foam to get the engine out.

If the bike is striped for restoration and just frame and engine are left, easiest way is to lay it on its side and lift the frame off the engine.

Appreciate the Re-iteration removing the motor and yes I removed it from the Right side as per FSM. Now for the Re-Build ( 1075 kit and beyond )
