Front sprocket doesn't fit spline

I recently bought new sprockets from Z1 Parts for my KZ900 and strangely, the front sprocket doesn't line up on the drive axle. Counting the splines on the old gear, there are 13 teeth on the spline of the gear I'm replacing and 12 on the new gear which also has a larger diameter opening. The girl at Z1 Parts said they checked all the gears they are currently selling and they all match up with the type they sold me. They're great over there, she sent me a return label and doing a refund but WTF? I asked her if they've ever had one of these returned because it didn't fit and she said no.

GPZ, J Model tranny. Don't forget where it came from Chi Comms! Don't complain, some poor 9 year old might have his hand cut off for a mistake.

Clearly Z1 Parts has stocked these wrong for 900's, or they shipped the wrong sprocket.

Good call Slmjim. Sprocket is for 81 KZ1000s and up. Not even close.
