J engine rear chain guide damper

J engine rear chain guide damper was created by VTEC
Installed cylinder block . See in the pic how the guide damper prevents the rear of the block from sitting flush with the case? Is this about normal? I used an aftermarket damper from Z1 and it looks different than the original, but it did have the "R" on it and I pointed it to the rear. Just double checking.

When in doubt, turn out the light and sleep on it...then order the correct part in the morning. :cheer:

Well. I do not want to pull the jugs again. Pain in the ass. And I'm pretty sure the damper will be fine. It's just rubber that secures the pivot pin of the rear guide. The top of it has to be above the case deck, so when torqued down it compresses and holds the pin. If the block went flush with the case right now there would be no pressure on the pin and it would bounce around.
