Should have my Wiseco 1075 kit next week so will have to pull my motor ( 77' KZ1000A ) to rebuild. Bike runs pretty decent for what it is but excited getting started :cheer:

Besides the obvious, what the easiest way to remove motor from the frame being a one man show ? Any Tips would be greatly appreciated !

An upside milk crate alongside the frame to slide the engine onto works for me. You can also lay the bike down on it's side and lift the frame off the engine if you don't have the strength to wrestle the engine out.

Take the top end off then remove the cases.

Nessism, I'll keep the Bike upright and use the milk crate route. Hopefully can the leave the Engine intact as I slide it over the frame to rest on the crate. Then the Builder ( Bill ) can do his magic.

I have made improvements since 2011 but this is what I do.
Note: if you drain the oil and remove the oil filter it's a big help not having to deal with getting past those lugs , a little messy thou

I used Blue's method twice once with the top end removed and one without......... back in together too but I had the wife giving me a hand to be sure I didn't beat things up.

As everything I do I worried and worried and it was out easy and in in a flash.......... One thing I wanted to add is I taped cardboard on the frame rails and ex studs to help protect the paint too,

The bracket and hoist pics are mine from a couple years ago. It works very well for me. But I need to be clear I've only used that method on KZ650's and 750's. I've not done this on a 1000cc or an 1100. They are bigger, heavier and I do not know how much weight the intakes will handle. It may work just fine, but I haven't done it.
