kz400 1979 440 barrels pistons

Will the 440 barrels and pistons fit onto a 400 engine? I want to retain the kick start but if pistons and barrels are to be replace. I would like to fit the bigger jugs from the 440. Anyone ever considered doing this?

Mike....

Which 400, early or late?

The subject line says 1979 so I'm gonna guess 'late'.

It is the last of the kickstart models as I am told. a 1979 year.

Have you looked at www.kz400.com ? You can find a lot of good information there.

The 440 sleeves are about .100 in. larger than the 400. The Bores in the top case might be to small.
