Any exhaust repacking tips was created by Hyde_me
I found a stock exhaust system for my 81 KZ440 to replace my beat-up set. I pulled the baffles and found the packing is almost gone in both mufflers. Any tips on repacking the exhaust? Any products you would recommend? The only thing I know is that I need to use 4 stroke exhaust packing material.

Let me know.

I recently packed my muffler and the big thing is make sure you pack it very tightly. Use masking tape to hold all of the packing together while the core is reinserted into the can.

AFAIK, there is much difference (if any) between the 2 stroke and 4 stroke stuff. It's all just fiberglass, ceramic or whatever fibers.

I got the sheet for 4 strokes. The 2 stroke seemed looser.

My concern is, does this type of baffle actually use any packing at all or does it run using the cuts in the baffle to retard the exhaust?

The Jardines had a series of blocked tubes, no packing.
