Install Base Gasket was created by gordone
I need some inputs / help for installation of the new base gasket.

It looks to be made of metal, please see attached photos, according to the service manual shall I only apply liquid gasket to indicated area, please see attached photo.
Is these correct, or shall I apply on whole gasket, is these service manual made for not metal gasket maybe?

When it comes to liquid gasket have it available:
Three Bond Case Sealant Liquid Gasket 1184A100G
Permatex 80697 Copper Spray-A-Gasket Hi-Temp

Can I use one of these ? what is best ?

Thank you for your inputs.

That looks like the head gasket. Base gasket should be paper.

I found it strange also, but it was label on the plastic protection was marked "base gasket" and the size of the wholes in each cylinder mack the opening of the block...
And there are also not any reinforcement around the opening as the head gasket normally have ?
You also see it fit the edge around the block perfect also, the head gasket has a bigger opening around the chain opening...

These must be a base gasket, but maybe no the correct one for me? paper will be better ?

What I have ordered is:
11060-1726 - GASKET,CYLINDER BASE

When I google it I got a metal one also....

I want to continue the work on Saturday, if not must I order a new paper base gasket express hehe :)

Thank you all.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configuration

I`m not home, but it looks to be 100% identical with these, you can zoom in if you got into ebay site :

I found a picture on google also:

If these is a base gasket, is it a bad choice? harder to get oil oil tight, it will not soak the same way as the paper.... ?

I found the order confirmation from partzilla.com:

The part nr is correct and by your pix it looks like the base gasket. What do you mean with it beeing made of metal? They used to be made of pretty flimsy paper.
At least the ones that I have handled.

I will take closer picture when I come home today, so If these is a normal base gasket I shall only use sealer (threebond sealer) on indicated area, will it be good to use
the copper coat on rest of the gasket?

The one you have is a pressed metal gasket similar to the MLS ones Wiseco now supply for the head.
Usually they are fully coated with a sealer and don't need anything else.
I don't know about the one you have there though and have never used a metal one on the base.
Personally I prefer the paper base gasket as they are more forgiving to inperfections in the alloy surfaces and re-usable if you grease them both side on install.

Thank you,

Two options ?
1. Cote the metal one good with Permatex 80697 Copper Spray-A-Gasket Hi-Temp and then install the block...
I have not delivered both surface to machine shop for leveling of the surface... so they can be some off...
However the old gasket was not leaking.. but I have removed some metal when I removed the old gasket.....

2.
Order a new paper version....
What part number can I use for paper type?
When I goes on ebay with 11060-1726 I only find metal version.... ?

Summary:
Is there high risk option 1 will fail?
Is the metal gasket requires a workshop metal job of leveling both surface to guarantee a air tight sealing.... ?

Don't think you have to coat it with anything. Just throw it on and go. The raised areas will crush down when you tighten the head nuts.

Just to make sure no misunderstandings, coating can make it worse for me?
So your advise is to not coat at all either on the indicated area from service manual or in generel?

Thank you all, your inputs are highly appreciated!

The metal gasket shouldn't need any additional sealer and I wouldn't add anything else.
The manuals sealer instructions are for a paper gasket.
The black coating is usually the sealer in addition to the raised portions which get distorted to seal when torqued down.
You need to ask the maker/ supplier for their recommendation if there were no instructions in the packet.
Personally I would fit a normal paper one especially if the alloy surfaces are not perfect. .
If you can't find one to buy you could buy a plain sheet of gasket paper ( Klinger or Flexoid brand etc) and make your own if you are suitably skilled and use the metal one as a pattern.
