Yes, on my 750. Honestly I miscalculated the results I would get - somehow I had thought that it would be like my standard 5-speed transmission with an overdrive to get better fuel mileage on the freeway.
I wouldn't say that the current setup is unusable, and it might even be preferable for some, but it's a lot of work and commitment. Also, if you've got a shaft driven 750 with a 16" rear wheel, it might be a little much - rough guess that you would be at 6k going 70mph in that case.
Anyway, even though the results aren't what I had hoped for, I'm glad that I did it so that people know that it can be done and know the results to expect. Plus it's fun.

I bought a KZ550 gear cluster right after Daftrusty posted this for when I tear my GPz down for an 810 kit.
It's on! Thanks again, Daftrusty.

So, getting back to this after a long delay. I have been test fitting the transmission and I would like to point out the 750 roller bearing has to be used with the 750 input bushing. It's NLA but I was able to find NOS on eBay. It's fairly obvious but should be pointed out since you have to remove it from the 750 cluster. I missed it when I was putting things together for test fitting. The attached pic shows the correct needle bearing the 550 needle bearing is smaller. Also, what tool should be used to take these circlips on and off without damaging them?

Given that the cluster is intended for a smaller motor could you not change the sprocket ratio to get the cruising revs you want with the benefit of the six gears which should pull better through the box
