Temperature was created by gordone
I have Kawa 750 750-H 81, and planning to paint the engine.
I wondering if you know how hot the motor covers can be on the left and right covers?
Cover over the gearbox and the cover over the alternator and the cover over the clutch on the right side,
they cannot be so hot as the block?

100 Celsius ? more ?

Thank you for your feedback.

Scroll down about seven posts in this thread.

Keep in mind that this is for a modified 900 that lives in the Arizona desert and the measurements are in Fahrenheit.

If you plan on painting the entire engine, I don't know what you should do.

The engine covers get pretty hot. I painted the generator cover & pulsing coil cover with Duplicolor engine paint, but any high temperature paint will probably be good. Duplicolor. VHT. Eastwood, Casewell. etc. even Rustoleum bar-b-que grill paint.
I did a very quick job on the engine covers several years ago, and they still look very good.
Duplicolor high temp engine paint. gloss black.

cleaned & polished quickly. put a very light coating of grease on the raised letters --- a little grease on finger tips,
then lightly pat the letters. very easy. quick haphazard masking tape around the perimeter then light grease where needed.
Sprayed parts, then allowed about 1 hr dry time, removed masking tape & wiped off grease. let parts cure overnight,
then baked engine covers in low temp oven. 20 mins @ 170o F + 30 mins @ 225o F

Thank you all, I think have a plan now.

Prime the side covers with, these primer (1200 ºC):
www.hirschauto.com/12-OZ-HI-TEMP-AEROSOL...productinfo/PRIM+HT/

And then paint the whole engine with (980 ºC)
gasolin.no/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=213

Will sand down the chrome covers on left and right side good before I apply the primer.

A plan ?

If you actually have chrome covers you would be better to have them stripped, because even sanded chrome does not hold paint well, if you have access to 69% nitric acid this will strip the chrome properly, just handle the stuff with respect and research the do's and don'ts of acid handling.
