No difference for the 4th 5th gear shift fork part #13140A.
All other gears use shift forks part #13140.
All 1100 ccm engines (1981 - 84) use the same shift forks.

Wow man, so glad I didn't decide to use the shift forks from a wrecked 86 ninja. Y'know, I did ask the question "Any differences between 82 and 86" on this forum, however, that post went unanswered Oh well, hey bro ...Thank you for the additional information. I do appreciate it.

Seriously? I bet nobody here even imagined you were asking about ZX600 shift forks. That is a completely different engine and transmission from what you have.
On the other hand, the 1986 KZ 1000 uses the very same shift forks as your 1982 KZ1100. It took me about a minute or minute and a half on Partzilla.com to see all the different models that use those forks. You might want to give it a try sometime.

Sorry bout that Texas KZ. Trust there was absolutely no sarcasm intended in this, as I know it could be taken one of two ways. I assure you that I'm not lazy, and I most certainly wasn't attempting to get others to do my footwork. Seriously though, it really didn't occur to me that I could find out by doing it that way, .....by simply comparing part numbers @ a vendors website. A sincere "Thank you!!". I've been using partzilla's parts blow ups a lot for references, and quite often too, but still that'd never occurred to me. Odd I know LOL I do feel a lil dim at times, this was a perfect example LMAO

It is actually pretty easy to do using the Partzilla Fitment Chart. When you click on a part number from the parts list next to any of the diagrams, you will go to a page like the one at the link below where there is a list of all the models that used that part. Some members here have found a few errors in the charts, but they should help answer most questions along these lines.

I think the cross-reference is based on the old Kawasaki parts fiches. So a "what bikes use this part" query will return some incorrect info. The reason is some years, when you look up a part, the part numbers will be listed for multiple years where a different part is used on a different year. But then because the part numbers show up in the list it implies the bike uses the part when it really doesn't.
Hypothetical example:
When you look up a 1981 Kz550 ignition coil, there may be two part numbers. one for the 1980 points coil, and one for the 1981 electronic coil. So a parts query for that points coil will show the 1981 Kz550 as using a points coil, when it in fact uses the electronic coil. (A query for the electronic coil will also correctly show the 81 Kz550.) The list is really just a list of bikes that have that part number listed in the fiche, even if the bike doesn't use that part. To really know, I find I have to look up every bike in question. The list is just a starting point.
