I have some 0.625" - 0.12" wall chromoly tube I'm going to use and mill out a groove in the existing casting to accept it. and weld it up. I want to add an inch to the length to get a little more leverage. as long as its not banging into anything is there a problem with this?

Just a thought.
Have you try a kick start lever from a Kawasaki 750 H2 triple? It looks like they are little bit longer and have a better leverage you want.

The part I didn't mention is I also need to bend it wider to clear my rear sets, I tried bending the OEM lever but it just bends back after a few kicks because it is cast. Also I want the rubber on the kick lever to match the tarozzi footpegs.
