Shorty Mufflers on my KZ650
12 Oct 2017 19:19 - 12 Oct 2017 19:21
So, I dont feel like buying Kerkers or V&H or Mac. Was thinking, couldnt i just take off the stock mufflers, leave the headers, and put on shorty mufflers?
Here is my bike. I want to take these LOOOOOONG stock mufflers. off. Can i just unbolt them and (see below what else I want to do):
and here is the shorty muffler look I want:
and they are sold here. Any advice in terms of fitment, rejetting or someone who has done it??

Those wheels on the green KZ 650 look like Yamaha XS wheels. Like on my XS650.

Youre right. I forgot. The seller told me they are lesters. Are they good wheels? Desireable?

Mag wheels are off of "Specials" and spoke wheels are "Standards". BTW Nice XS Standard you have there..

Yes, they're valuable. I had them on my bike in the wreck in 86. Wish I had them now.

Might affect jetting. Can't say if it would be an improvement.

No, you cannot "unbolt" the mufflers because if they are the stock units they are not bolted on to the headers; they are welded on. You can use a hacksaw and cut them off, but don't plan on ever putting them back on unless you can weld pretty well. Take a closer look at them and you will see what I mean. Ed
