My 77 KZ650 has the MAC 4 into 2 system, which I find to be to loud for my taste. I contacted MAC to see if there were any options to tone it down a bit and the answer was no. When I bought the bike they sent along the stock exhaust system which was in decent condition, till I picked up the left muffler and mid way down the muffler something inside (baffle) is loose inside and slides back and forth 6-8 inches when tilting the pipe back and forth. I thought about trying to stake it from the ouside with a couple stainless screws, but have no idea what is inside these pipes and don't want to create a blockage. I've been shoping for a left muffler on e-bay but most are junk. Any suggestions? might just have to wait it out and hope a nice one shows up on e-bay at some point.

Waiting is the obvious solution. A 750 exhaust will fit to the engine but the muffler mounts are different so consider that option if necessary.

You can always fit a decibel killer in it without affecting performance.

Thanks Ed, the cut away photo tells the tale. I'm going to check again but I believe the loose piece is between #1 and the wall leading into #2 on the cutaway. If that's the case I may attempt staking the loose piece from the outside so it won't rattle. I've got nothing to lose by trying.
Thanks
