Exhaust smoking really bad was created by Kawi-problems23
Hello everyone
My exhaust is smoking pretty bad i know it's burning oil because of the blue smoke but I'm not too sure where it's burning it in the engine any help would be greatly appreciated

Consistent smoke = worn rings /bores . "May" get away with a hone and new rings but maybe needs a re-bore depending on mileage and wear.
Also head gasket failure between the bore and an oil gallery can produce the same symptoms.
Smoke on acceleration = Guide seals and possibly worn guides . "May get away with fresh guide seals but again depending on wear and mileage may need fresh guides and possibly valves.

The bike has 220000 kilometres or about 137500 miles. How difficult would it be to get the valves and rings changed? And can you explain what and where the bores are?

It's a kawi kz250 single cylinder and I have no idea but i just called a motorcycle shop to see how much it would cost to change the rings and they said $2000 so either I have to do it myself (wich I have no idea how to do) or scrap the bike

Alright Thanks I'm not sure how to fully diagnose the problem. The bike runs and drives fine but the engine puffs out blue smoke as soon as I turn on the bike and it bellows out a huge cloud when I rev the engine

Yeah it calls for 1.1 litres of oil and I put in around 825 ml in and 175 or a product called no smoke

I'm no clear on the year so availability of parts and other motorcycles isn't clear to me. It is an impressive mileage achievement. I think you should find another one, check the compression and do a motor swap. Way cheaper than where you are headed assuming it is newer than mid 70's.

It's a 1980 kz250 single and I can't find a motor for it anywhere if I can't find one soon I think I'm going to change the rings, valves, head gaskets, and whatever has to be redone over the winter
