Oil scraper rings falling out of place and binding

I have tried unsuccessfully two times to try to install the cylinder block on my kz110b2. Each time I have had a few of the bottom scraper rings fall out of place and bind up the entire cylinder block. All of the rings were sitting in the grooves before I began pushing the block down.

I talked with a coworker and he suggested scotch tape that would melt (it was a joke) but made me wonder if there is anything to temporarily hold these more delicate rings in place?

Been there, done it, got the gouged bores...

There is a factory tool ring compressor, or just get a (skilled) assistant and do with you one each two at a time with wood blocks holding the block up. There is quite a decent lead-in champher on the liners...until you start boring out.

I cut a band out of a 2 ltr soda bottle to rap the ring's then us a hose clamp to compress the ring's.

Jay from APE told me to just push em in by hand when I asked him and that's what I did with very good luck ... thank God...... before hand though I read about this problem and Jay and Red line both told me to watch out for this so I was a nervous wreck till I had it bolted up and it turned smooth..... to be honest till I had a few hundred miles on it.

If I had it to do again I'd probably try the pop can and clamp trick or Daveo's..

First time I tried doing it by myself and it was fit to be tied. Then got the jugs off and tried again with the wife for an extra set of hands. I thought I had it together and fitted in there but it got tight. I knew they came off smoothly and that they should go back on smoothly. I didn't know if there was a sticky grease I could put on them to hold them in place or it was just 4 hands with chop sticks and being really patient.

I found it easest to block up the center cylinders, get them down, then do the outside ones...it's a real joy to do. a helper would make the job better.
