Timing advancer 750 with electronic points system was created by jenningsjesse
Is the timing advancer on a 1982 gpz 750 engine with electronic points a mechanical advancer like prior years, or is it mostly electronic like the points? Just want to know if there's a different procedure to diagnose for faults that 100% mechanical advancer and points? Can't find anything specific in the manual for the bike. 1982 Spectre 750 Shaft N1

Look at the parts manual.

The mechanical advance unit is the same for most of the early 750 bikes including the 750N1 and 750R1.

Thanks for the info. I'll try to look there first for any further questions that could possibly be answered. Bike is running rough at idle and all rmps. Other than o rings in carbs, and low vacuum to 2 and especially cylinder 3. Going through top end soon. Not sure if a bad advancer would effect running at idle? Doing a compression test before pulling head. Cams and clearances are good and timed. Not sure why it runs like crap period. Cleaned carbs, and the plugs with o rings are definitely not sealing so waiting for those to come in the mail. Any other thoughts feel free.
