KZ440 crankshaft balancer torque specs was created by hIPApotamus
Hi All! I'm rebuilding my '81 KZ440A engine and would like some input on torque spec for the crankshaft counterbalance assembly. The Haynes manual I have must be for an older engine design, because it says there are two separate "blocks" holding the front/rear balancing weights and that those blocks are held by (4) bolts. In reality, I have what's pictured below (front/rear weights are in the same block), and there are (4) M10 and (4) M8 bolts. The manual says to tighten to 16.5-19.5 ft-lb, but does not specify the bolt size. Hoping someone here might know the recommended spec for this engine- the M10 and M8 should have different torque specs.

Side note- is it worth replacing these bolts? Bike only has 11k miles on it.

Thanks!

Ok, i will give you some charts whit torque specs for Metric screws.

first chart is for steel screws
second is for stainless screws
third is for steel screws with fine thread

Steigung = thread pitch each turn
Güteklasse / Festigkeitsklasse = quality class / strength class

M8 quality class 8.8 = 28Nm = 20,65ft·lb
M10 quality class 8.8 = 54Nm = 39,82ft·lb

Thanks! I kept digging and eventually found a copy of the service manual. Looks like these are the values to use.
