Does to much valve shim clearance cause a very faint ticking noise? Also does this noise get alittle louder as the engines warms up? Thanks

It could, but most tic sounds are exhaust leaks at the head to pipes.

I have mine mostly at the max and they are pretty quiet when cold but defently get a little louder after warm up. I plan on closing a few of them up a little this fall now that its finally getting enough miles to consider it broken in. (1,500) by then.
Wanted to add I put in APE springs (maybe a little over kill with a KZ750 cam) too so they are closing with a little more force too.

I am not fully sure about all the possible ticking sound and the cause of them. But what i know is a valve that doesnt sit properly makes more noise than one freshly lapped. Experienced before on an other bike. I think this is just one of the cause possible.

Valve springs can do that. They may test right but in use they can do strange things.

A little top end noise is normal for these bikes. You can shim the valves to target the lower end of the spec clearance range if you want to, but that puts the pressure on you to make sure the next clearance check is performed on time. Shimming on the tight side may or may not reduce the noise anyway though.
