1977 KZ400D Clutch Cover

I have a 1977 KZ400D which has been in excellent running condition for years. Last season it was parked in my paved driveway sitting on the kickstand when along came a particularly bad wind storm. During the night the bike was blown over on its right side. The rear brake lever was driven straight through the right side cover leaving a 1.5" hole in the cover and the majority of the engine oil in driveway.

I am now on the hunt now for a replacement side cover. Checking BikeBandit it looks like the 77-78 side cover is p/n 14032-106-80 and the 79 is p/n 14032-1013. I have found the former for sale on eebbaayy but it is quite pricey and I would still need to get it to Canada. I have found the latter locally for a very good price. Are these parts interchangeable? Thanks in advance for the advice.

The gaskets are different & the engine cover looks different in the diagram drawings, so I would do a very careful comparison using eebbaayy photos. engine covers. gaskets. crankcase. etc.

The gasket is different at the end near the kick starter hole.
One difference in the cover I see that would seem to be inconsequential is the oil level gauge.

bb probably doesn't have that cover. most likely. Parts like that are NLA.

In the diagrams at partzilla, if they have a photo of a part, then they should have it. lacking a pic, probably not.

There are 4 different clutch covers for the KZ400/440.
