My engine sighed at me... was created by Setton
So I started my engine up today and I was greeted by a new sound I'd never heard come out of any engine before.
The engine sighed... It happened about 3 times and then stopped. Might also describe it as a sighing cough kind of sound...
I'm a bit worried...

I'll record next time I start her up. Don't know if she'll make that sound again though...

It hasn't done it again... Now I'm even more puzzled as to what's causing it...

Do you have electronic ignition? If so (and mine does the same every so often) I seem to rememeber a post quite a while ago about this but cannot recall the reason, it had something to do with a stored charge which gets released when you turn the key on but not press the starter. This reply sounds pretty vague but it's all I have.

I've isolated it... it seems to be coming from the exhaust pipes... I'm assuming it's unburnt fuel being ignited due to the choke being on and the engine still being ice cold.
